Press Dispensary - August 01, 2007 - The Institute of Cancer Research is appointing independent eCRM and web specialist, Underwired (http://www.underwired.com), to create its new intranet which will span all the organisation’s operating groups, including scientists, researchers and policymakers. The product, which includes functional specification, information architecture, usability and interface design, starts straight away.

Underwired has also cemented its eight year relationship with The Institute by being selected for the institute's first digital roster. This project win comes on the back of Underwired adding Virgin Megastores, Peugeot, Nickelodeon, JP Morgan and Oystercard to its client list in the last year.

Ranji Thangiah, intranet project manager at The Institute, said: “We are continuing our creative partnership with Underwired. With its expert team leading the way, I'm sure we can deliver an intranet that demonstrates advanced design and functionality that will truly meet the needs of our staff.”

Underwired started working with The Institute in 1999, designing its website and scientific extranet. In 2005, after the site had been live for five years, Underwired won the task of re-planning and redesigning the 5,000-page presence. The job involved working with 15 internal and external stakeholder groups to create a site that would serve all The Institute's national and international audiences, and managing the procurement of the underlying content management system (CMS). The current website can be seen at www.icr.ac.uk

The roster procurement process was managed Dominic Milburn and co-ordinated by David Singleton.
