Facebook UK Relights Its Fire
Corporate teambuilding takes on a new rhythm with Adventure Connections
Press Dispensary - June 23, 2008 - There was a time when team-building conjured up images of sodden staff constructing rafts out of rice paper and elastic bands. However, times have changed as the staff at Facebook UK discovered when they got together to film their very own pop video of the Take That classic, Relight My Fire, one of the packages available from events company Adventure Connections.
The team of 15 – ten boys and five girls – from the newly opened UK HQ of the social on-line networking phenomenon opted for one of the many unusual and creative teambuilding packages from Adventure Connections, which is rapidly becoming the events company of choice for London and the South East.
The pop video was filmed in the heart of London. On arrival, the team was welcomed with a glass of bubbly before being put through dance paces by the choreographer, while being filmed with both white and green screen shots.
The exercise was a sure-fire hit. From 3.30pm to 6.30pm the team worked, sang and danced together to create a truly memorable DVD.
And as for aspiring, hot pop stars, well, what did they make of the event? "It was an amazing afternoon,” said Facebook’s Emma Reyes: “The director, choreographer and team were so professional and the event exceeded our expectations.”
She continues: “It was all extremely professional and well organised; all we had to do was show up and it all ran super smoothly. We would definitely use Adventure Connections again for client, internal and private events.”
Adventure Connections MD Justin Sayers was present on the day and reports: “It was an absolutely fabulous afternoon. Everyone had such a high-octane time, and the performances that were presented were exceptional. It was a real exercise in team building: the Facebook girls and boys had to select the song, work out how to interpret it and provide their own costumes after styling advice from us. They had to learn the dance routines as well as having to improvise their own movements. They really had to help one another - it was definitely one of the best shoots I have been on and it’s a credit to Facebook’s dynamic team to really throw themselves out of their comfort zone which they did wholeheartedly!”
He concludes: “Our pop video experience is one of our top attractions for the discerning stag and hen party market, but what we are finding is that our corporate customers, too, are booking the more creative events for team building to really get the best out of their staff. And naturally with the pop video, everyone gets a professionally-finished DVD, which offers a great opportunity to relive the event – so, in essence, two events in one.”
