Asckey Data Services Announces Visual DataFlex v12
January 15, 2007, Press Dispensary. Asckey Data Services Ltd (http://www.asckey.co.uk), channel partner for Data Access Europe - the European subsidiary of the authors of Visual DataFlex for Data Access Worldwide - announces version 12 of Visual DataFlex (VDF). This latest upgrade of a long-established software development favourite comes with a free personal edition, ideal for new users.
VDF 12 is the latest in a line of Dataflex releases extending back to the early 1980s, making DataFlex one of the longest living PC application development tools in the business. Many 1980s-developed applications continue to run today, often alongside and sharing data with modern VDF-developed windows and web systems and system extensions, with some using current day SQL server technology rather than the original proprietary DataFlex database.
Now a full Windows, web, and web services development system - operable against any SQL (or ODBC complient) database and using the same business process code for all three environments - Visual DataFlex v12 features a development studio, rich object oriented language and framework specifically designed for developing database applications.
With Visual DataFlex v12, the framework, class library and comprehensive set of pre-programmed, data-aware controls support successful custom projects and high quality commercial products - all with a well managed underlying process.
In December 2006, Visual DataFlex 12 was ranked by Download.com as a "Top Ten" new release in the site's 'Developer Tools / Database / Development / New Releases' category, and as a "Jewel of the Internet” by Norway's leading online information technology magazine, Digi.no.
Martin Pincott, technical director of Asckey Data Services Ltd, comments:
"Our application development business is built around Visual DataFlex. The facilities in the new development studio will help significantly in managing our team development process within the large and complex applications VDF has allowed us to build."
Chris Hibbert, marketing manager at Asckey Data Services Ltd, says: "While Visual DataFlex is well suited to professional development of large scale systems, non IT professionals also find it one of the best Windows development tools around."
He adds: "With the new, free personal edition of VDF as a starting point, we think more non-IT specialists will rediscover the potential to build real Windows and web capable database software”.
Visual DataFlex licences and CDs are available from Asckey Data Services Ltd and evaluation/personal edition downloads can be obtained from the usual web download sites and from Data Access Worldwide (http://www.dataaccess.com).
