New LCD Video Endoscope Gets into Tight Spots

2008-09-08

September 08, 2008, Press Dispensary. Dart Systems Ltd ( http://www.dartsystems.co.uk ), a Somerset based manufacturer of cable installation and inspection systems, has expanded its offering of endoscopes and inspection systems with the addition of the LCD endoscope. The tool allows users to easily inspect cavities, inside engines, machinery and pipes while also recording the information they see.

The new LCD bore scope/endoscope is a robust package featuring a CMOS image sensor which provides high resolution, clear, full colour images that can be recorded or photographed within the self contained unit. Lighting is provided by high performance white LED’s, ensuring that the smallest points of interest can be inspected.

Recording what is found is made easy with the LCD endoscope, as the unit features a standard 1GB SD card (or optional 2GB card) that will allow up to 1.5 hours of continuous recording or 14,630 photos, and a high capacity battery that will run for 4 hours continuously after being charged for 2 hours.

With a shaft diameter of only 5.5mm, the unit can easily get through the spark plug hole of any petrol or diesel engine. Currently the unit is supplied with a standard shaft length of 1m, with further options of 2m, 3m, 10m and 30m units also available. The shafts are interchangeable with a push fit and screw retention connector which means the inspection shaft can be replaced or upgraded if new applications are identified.

The image is displayed on a 3.5” extra wide view TFT hand held monitor which is protected by oil and scratch resistant tempered glass making the unit extremely robust. The video out facility also allows images to be displayed in real time onto a monitor or recorded images can be played back. Recorded images can also be downloaded through the mini USB connector to a PC to be used in reports or stored for future reference.

Stuart Arkell, director, Dart Systems, says: “The LCD endoscope will benefit drain inspectors, automotive engineers, surveyors, locksmiths and inspection specialists. The new LCD scope has been built for professional by professionals.”

The new LCD endoscope complements an extensive range of inspection, installation and location equipment available from Dart Systems. For more information on all products, please visit www.dartsystems.co.uk
