NHS Productivity Boost with V6 Launch for Eclipse-fm(R) Facilities Management Software
Eclipse-fm® has a strong track record as a respected facilities and asset management system which benefits from a continuous history of more than 25 years of NHS focused development for the Healthcare Facilities Consortium. With Eclipse-fm® V6, NHS facilities managers can program maintenance tasks to match their detailed equipment needs, while also retaining a ‘default’ maintenance schedule for equipment.
Phil Wright, Asckey’s NHS account manager, explains: “Eclipse-fm® V6 simplifies the definition of maintenance tasks, combining a ‘one size fits all’ basic definition with ad hoc changes that handle specific circumstances that can arise. It is designed to provide increased flexibility when managing the library of PPM definitions.”
Meanwhile, the mobile device provisions included in Eclipse-fm® V6 allow stock issues and stock checks to be carried out ‘on the fly’. PDAs and smartphones with bar code readers can be used in the stock location, whether fixed or mobile, with full synchronisation to the trust stores database. This eliminates the need for paper-based records that will require later updates.
Furthermore, the Web Eclipse module of Eclipse-fm® V6 has been improved to provide a more interactive system that allows general ward staff to raise and track the progress of help desk tasks. This saves time and resources by reducing the need for internal telephone calls, while also avoiding the need to transcribe phone and email-generated requests.
Parminder Singh Bilkhu, EBME manager, of Dudley Primary Care Trust, says: “The new Web Eclipse module is more user-friendly and easier to use, especially when imputing new jobs. Navigating between the windows has been simplified, as has the ability to view information from previously logged jobs. It is making our life easier.”
Phil Wright concludes: “Facilities management personnel have contributed greatly to the development of our Eclipse-fm® system and this latest release, V6, resulting in software that is truly ‘by the NHS for the NHS’.”
