Nexor Boosts Information Assurance Capability
November 09, 2006, Press Dispensary. Nexor ( http://www.nexor.com ), a provider of high-grade security products and services to military and government sectors, has boosted its information assurance capability in response to increased market demand. Nexor now has six CLAS (CESG Listed Advisor Scheme) and three CISSP* (Certified Information Security Systems Professional) consultants and a new range of consultancy and training services.
The pressure on government departments to take information assurance seriously has increased significantly since Sir Andrew Turnball, former secretary of the cabinet office and head of the home civil service, stated: “In the past, corporate governance and information risks have often been delegated to IT departments but managing information risks is now a key board level function. This heightened focus means that many military staff and civil servants face a new and complex set of considerations and activities."
While ISO/IEC 27001:2005 (formerly BS7799) provides a code of best practice for the key elements of information assurance, the degree of learning and experience required to become effective may be unachievable. This is where Nexor aims to provide assistance.
Peter Whyton, Nexor’s recently-appointed information assurance consultancy manager, comments: “It's rewarding to find a company with so much background and hands-on experience in security matters in the public sector. The capability within Nexor far outweighs some of the larger consultancies and demonstrates the power of specialisation.”
To help its customers tackle the subject, Nexor has produced training workshops, which focus on the principles of information assurance and security, identity management and security policy definition, along with well-defined consultancy services for managing risk, defining security policies and procedures, IT governance, business continuity planning and secure network design penetration testing.
Nexor will undertake deliverables-based consultancy projects or work with existing project teams on a time and materials basis.
