Diet Freedom Promotes EFT for Weight Loss

2007-12-17     Short permalink::

December 17, 2007, Press Dispensary. The festive season can be a stressful and emotional time when people often eat to excess, leaving them feeling guilty and sluggish in the New Year. Diet Freedom, an organisation devoted to helping people end years of yo-yo dieting, is promoting its new Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) service to help combat the obesity crisis in 2008.

EFT involves tapping specific energy meridians of the body (similar to acupuncture but without the needles), along with the creative use of specific, targeted phrases to remove emotional triggers that are personal to everyone. As a result, people don’t end up heading straight to the fridge or biscuit tin for comfort when one of their emotional triggers makes them feel tense, stressed or upset. EFT targets emotions that lead to intense food cravings such as those triggered by issues from the past, a family history of obesity, the person’s limiting beliefs about their own ability to lose weight, fear of the future and other factors that cause binge eating.

The Diet Freedom organisation has already written four bestselling books based on the benefits of a low Glycaemic Load (GL) diet and is now adding an 'EFT for weight loss' phone consultation service to its website, available to members and non members.

Founders Tina Michelucci and Deborah Pyner, both ex serial dieters, believe that EFT offers real hope as an alternative answer to weight loss and the current obesity crisis.

Tina Michelucci says: "For many people, the best dietary advice in the world doesn’t deal with the underlying problem – instead, the key lies in addressing the emotional triggers that make us over-eat in the first place. After years of trials and feedback, we’ve realised that ‘yo-yo dieters’ sabotage their own efforts by ‘comfort eating’. They often know exactly what they should eat and follow diet plans successfully for a short time, and then binge eat. EFT is an emotional 'MOT' or a 'spring clean' of the mind, and it achieves remarkable results even for those who have abandoned all hope of losing weight. Excess fat is often ‘more about feelings than food’ and the sooner we wake up to this fact, the better."

Deborah Pyner says: "In July 2007, the Cochrane Collaboration review found that a low GL diet resulted in more weight loss and better heart health markers than low fat / low calorie diets. We firmly believe that combining EFT with a low GL diet gives the best possible chance of sustainable weight loss. We hope anyone who has given up on their weight loss efforts will come to us first before considering drastic surgery or diet pills, which will do nothing to address the emotional triggers that made them overweight in the first place."

An hour’s EFT phone consultation can be booked with one of Diet Freedom's EFT practitioners at Diet Freedom. The effect of the session is immediate, with between one and three hours consultation time recommended. Many doctors and psychologists worldwide are now using EFT to treat numerous addictive behaviours.

Online membership of Diet Freedom costs just £9.90 a month and provides access to all the tools and services needed to follow a healthy, low GL diet based on eating natural foods. The site has ‘For Her’ and ‘For Him’ sections catering specifically for female and male members. The Diet Freedom team of experts includes some of the UK's most highly respected doctors, dieticians and alternative therapy practitioners.
