November 30, 2010, Press Dispensary. With the recession continuing to deter consumers from booking overseas holidays and the UK ‘staycation’ sector burgeoning hand-in-hand, a Manchester-based exhibition organiser, eConfex, is announcing two new ‘Great Outdoors Shows’ for the North West and South East of England in 2011. The Royal Wedding bank holiday weekend will see the ‘North West Great Outdoors Show’ take place from April 30 to May 2 at the central location of Haydock Racecourse, Lancashire, followed by the ‘South East Great Outdoors’ show on June 3 to 5 at Kent County Showground, just half an hour from Central London ( ( ).

Headed up by Manchunian Steve Foley, of eConfex Ltd, the two shows will give exhibitors the chance to showcase everything from holiday and retirement parks to motor homes, caravans, camping equipment and accessories, as well as products for outdoor and leisure pursuits such as walking, running, cycling, surfing, sailing, and action adventure. Companies that offer complementary services for healthy living and wellbeing will also be exhibiting.

The ‘North West Great Outdoors Show’ incorporates ‘The UK Staycation Show’ for tourism, parks, static caravan locations, campsites and destinations. With the recession holding its icy grip, consumer interest in the staycation market is growing and companies such as Haven have recently reported a huge upturn in business. This major show, scheduled for the Royal Wedding weekend, is predicted to prove popular with consumers from a massive catchment area of six million people. Haydock Park is equidistant from Manchester and Liverpool -  just 15 miles from each - with adjacent towns including Warrington, St Helens, Wigan, Widnes, Skelmersdale, Chorley, Bolton, Leigh, Stockport and Knutsford.

The ‘South East Great Outdoors Show’ is also set to prove popular and is strategically located just 35 minutes from Central London and close to Maidstone, Rochester and Gillingham. eConfex selected the location because of its sizeable and affluent catchment area and communication links directly from the M2 & M20.

Steve Foley, director of eConfex, says: “We had already confirmed the dates when the Royal Wedding was announced for 29 April, which means the North West ‘Great Outdoors Show’ now promises to be an even more  special weekend of celebration and good humour, with exhibitors arranging ‘Royal Wedding special offers’. And, with the unpredictable Sterling to Euro exchange rate and weakness of the Pound continuing into 2011, there’s no evidence that overseas holidays will become any cheaper or more attractive for the months or even years ahead. The UK ‘staycation’ market has a rosy future and our ‘Great Outdoors’ shows will help exhibitors target a receptive market of consumers in the North West and South East of England.”

He adds: “Both shows will be major affairs, featuring four main elements – Holidays, Park and Retirement Homes, Motor Homes, Caravans and Camping. Complementary themes are Active Lifestyle and Healthy Living, encompassing all kinds of outdoor leisure pursuits and entertainment for outdoor enthusiasts, who we expect to attend in their droves.”

Major leisure industry players have already expressed an interest in participating. These include Tingdene, Omar, Pathfinder, Prestige, Statley-Albion, Cambrian, Marquis, Glossop Caravans, Cleveland Motorhomes and Vantage.

eConfex Ltd has a proven track record of organising events in UK and Far East for over 25 years. It was responsible for the ‘Lego World Show’, which attracted 100,000 visitors, the first ‘Malaysian Home Show’, with 25,000 visitors and, closer to home, it has organised successful entrepreneur conferences on internet, property and wealth creation.

The two ‘Great Outdoors Shows’ in 2011 will be backed up by experienced show management, an aggressive PR and marketing campaigns targeting press, radio and TV, as well as direct marketing to the public. eConfex is offering affordable exhibition spaces to establish the two new fixtures on the UK leisure event calendar.

The ‘North West Great Outdoors Show’ takes place on April 30 to May 2 at Haydock Park Racecourse, St Helens, Newton-Le-Willows, Lancashire, positioned at Crossroads North West between Manchester & Liverpool on the junction of the M6 J23 and A580, East Lancashire Road, WA12 0HQ. The ‘South East Great Outdoors Show’ takes place on June 3 to 5 at Kent County Showground, Detling, Maidstone, Kent, ME14 3JF.
