November 24, 2011, Press Dispensary. Lights. Camera. Action. With this year’s acclaimed Bondi Short Film Festival set to begin on Saturday 26th November, perception may suggest any remaining tickets for the event may have already been sold. However DialAFlight, one of the UK’s leading travel operators are assuring customers that there is still ample time to book cheap flights to Sydney and attend this year’s festival.
This year will see organisers celebrate the festivals eleventh birthday. Since its inception in 2000, the event has become a hotbed for showcasing some of Australia’s most talented up-and-coming filmmakers and received high praise from the international film community for its support promoting Australian film.
Somewhat surprisingly the festival has become increasingly popular with international tourists, especially Brits, visiting Bondi whilst holidaying in nearby Sydney. Famed for its stunning beach and huge range of bars and restaurants Bondi has long been a tourist favourite, however the film festival has helped push tourism during November- a notoriously quiet month leading up to the festive upsurge where numbers rapidly increase.
This year’s festival, held at the Bondi Pavillion, will showcase fourteen films in total, each directed by Australian independent filmmakers. Each film will be judged by a panel of eleven experts (including Daniel Netthiem, director of the film RUSH) who have the tough decision of naming this year’s best film. The lucky winner will not only receive the highly coveted ‘Best Film’ award but will also get $10,000 to help kick-start their next film project.
A spokesperson for DialAFlight said today:
“DialAFlight are dedicated to offering customers with cheap flights to Sydney throughout November. So for those eager to get down-under and attend this year’s Bondi Short Film Festival, they can be assured that they can buy a ticket without breaking the bank.”
“Bondi is a superb place to visit and a real holiday hotspot for people of all ages. It’s only a train-ride away from Sydney, so it’s really easy to get to.”
Film-lovers planning to attend this year’s festival will be pleased to hear tickets for the event are still available.
